I do vinyl plank all the time in my rentals here in Chicago, and although it is an amazing floor surface, it cannot stand up on its own if the subfloor is not good.

This home is the highest sale in the neighborhood, but completely turnkey... which to me means new kitchen, granite countertops, vinyl plank and wood flooring throughout, finished basement, newer mechanicals, etc.
