I do want to add a piece that often gets overlooked or intentionally ignored on the forums here: while we are all here to make money, vacation rental investment is about selling a experience rather than just accommodations.

Sure, you may not have the depreciation or other tax benefits as a piece of real estate does but you're also not doing much of anything except putting money into a wire transfer and  living life. 

If there is one, then the attorney that closed your piece of property would have a problem on his/her hands, if not, you can sue the town that owns the sewer line.
