Now if you are willing to spend about 36-40hrs a week and learn from experienced collogues, then I would say go for it, independently of what you choose between these two very similar career paths in your post.

Depending on how much money you pay them a year you could have it be an independent contractor situation where you either do or don't have to do tax forms on it, or simply a "fee for service" as a customer which means you have no liabilities as an employer or person contracting somebody etc.

Independent power producers (including small solar farms) do not back feed if the power provider (grid) is down.
