They gave up on the idea since another apartment complex a block down from one of theirs came on the market and all of their assets went into that.

The yard was full of weeds and there was a huge, overgrown lilac bush in front of the house that was completely blocking the front door.

It's a very block by block market, but there are also a lot of parks and commercial districts that are a part of several very different neighborhoods.  

A neighbor on my block rents out rooms in his house on Airbnb and gets around $80/night.

Once you establish a plan, stick with it and block everything else out.
