If this is going through a title company or lawyer, usually at the signing the taxes are taken from the sellers amount and the taxes are paid, so h will not receive that money and your father-in-law should not owe anything on it.

On these types of properties you do not want any loan with a pre-pay penalty.It's a common mistake I see to get pre-pay loan financing on a turn around asset.Thanks, this is one of the better pieces of feedback I have received on BP.
