I realized that a personal project didn't belong on the investment board.  

Could be longer obviously, depending on how busy you are/how much time you devote to this.

Net when you are working as an agent, even for your own investment, your income, expenses and liability belong to your agent LLC. and when you are owning, rehabbing, renting or exiting the investment properties, these belong in the investment LLC.

John,I belong to a (general) mastermind group and get a great deal out of it. 

Ask lots of questions and as @Jeremy E Van Dam mentioned, pick someone doing what you want to do and offer to assist in return for learning the ropes.It wont be long at all before you will be much more skilled and seeing opportunities that you may have missed early on in your career.

Bluntly put, I'd like to let my license essentially hang idle, except for a primary residence purchase in the near future.Does anyone belong to a brokerage or know of one that fits this description that they would recommend?

Perseverance is all you need right now. my guess is that it won't be long until you stop lIrving by the skin of your teeth.I'd love to see this same post next year...but you need to tell us how you've met your goals and overcome adversity.Good luck to you

Funny you comment on other people's assumptions, but in the very same post, you admit that you make assumptions about an individual based on the group she belongs to and cross the street when you see her.
