If you buy something for even 250K that can only rent for 1500/m, you're going to lose money on it every month (assuming you would finance the purchase and not pay cash - if you pay cash, your return is terrible).If you're not feeling confident on the number you'd need to purchase at to have to make sense as a rental, then I'd suggest learning a little more about how to analyze the numbers on a real estate investment - BP's webinars are a great place to start, as are the books in the store.Personally, if all I knew about the house was "1500/m rent", I wouldn't even think twice about it until the price was below 150K.

If you aren't confident in managing the property on your own, I would contact a good property management company who can list it for you and get you a good rent rate.
