I manage a hand full of STRs here in Central Oregon had some tweakers come through and do about 10k-20k in damages probably. 

I don't thinknitbis so much about a specific area as it is a good price on a specific property that has views and amenities that people want.I would set up search for popular mountain tourist locations and be patient till the right property comes along and be ready to pounce.You can put a property under contract to lock it up and then schedule a viewing and make a decision during the due diligence time.

Most people do not realize though that a bad review does not hurt a host like you very much.

There is nothing wrong with that, but I think many people don't fully understand their reasoning for doing it.

Though I suppose many people would rather have new construction townhouses or a 3 or 4 story apartment project on the site.   

I rent to people who set up mid and short term rentals.

What if we buy the land before hand.

My question is, if this is a deal that makes sense I do not have a lot of cash on hand - what type of lending would I be able to get or should I look for to buy and renovate this property.

Probably because whether someone died on the subject property is irrelevant. 160,000 people die every day.
