Hi,Does anyone have recommendations for a broker that can help me identify 2-4 unit multi-family opportunities in the DFW area? 

I just recently moved to Los Angeles and was planning on doing this method later this year with some kind of Multi-Family property (2 - 4 units). 

So, multi-family homes are a tad harder to come by.

As new investors we are about to get into our first multi-family property with owner occupancy (house hacking!). 

This is where this community comes in (I hope).My plan: Invest in small multi family homes around Cleveland, buy and hold to build a small portfolio and possibly trade up to small 5+ units.

To this point, most of my experience has been with single family houses and a duplex but would consider larger multi unit property's if I could get the financing and the numbers work.

Hi Lane, I have to respond to your post because what you said is not the case.  1031's are a great tool in real estate investing to defer capital gains taxes and there are multi owner deals that you can 1031 into. 

I'm stuck on whether I sell the property in search for a multi-family property or if I pull equity out to purchase my next property.
