Get a spice rack for the kitchen counter - you can get a decent one on amazon for not that much - I have it in cabinet 12.

I have 6 battery powered lanterns in a marked kitchen cabinet, which I test every time I go there. 

The police came in and took a chainsaw to our kitchen cabinets for some odd reason.

I installed white cabinets in my own kitchen, which I love, but every time I mentioned white cabinets to people they were all moaning about keeping them clean.  

Fan and those cabinets are going to be removed and you can see that some of it  is already peeling off.

 $21k for systems work, $8k for interior/exterior paint, ~$5k for the roof,  $5k fixtures, .... hard to even guess trim, floors, framing, sheetrock, tile, cabinets/counters, etc.    

I'm talking busted windows, missing doors (int and ext), no plumbing fixtures, decks half tore out, siding missing, holes in the siding, cabinet doors missing, whole cabinets missing, garbage piles, missing floors, wire stripped out...

The wow factor in upper end homes will come from your cabinets, counter top, curb appeal.

My only concern is that if I put the dark laminate that it does not match cabinets in kitchen.
