Some credit providers charge $50, some charge $200 and you don't have control over this unfortunately.Title fees: since you are purchasing, you probably didn't choose the title company, however this can be negotiated when you submit your offer.

For all the people out there that are happy about the NAR Settlement, that are happy about "sticking it" to the RE Agent, claiming that RE Agents make too much money, don't provide good service/advice, that they don't have to pay high commissions any more, and that they can fill out "paperwork" and sell a house themselves...are the embodiment of ignorance and inexperience.

I am taking a loan of $280,000 but for some reason, the lender I am talking to is charging me about $6800 of lender fees in the closing costs quote that he provided, along with other overpriced charges that I have not received when I got a previous loan from a different lender in California.

I'm sure you can still buy in Tulum and cover your costs if you rent when you're not using the property provided that 1) you don't use the property too much of the time and 2) you pay 100% in cash so you don't have a mortgage payment to cover.
