I'm sure there are seasoned veteran Meetup-ers with more concrete advice but in my short time, this has been a big part of me actually walking away from them feeling like I learned something, got something valuable out of it.

Turns out it is not a cheap fix with bracing but instead an entire replacement of the concrete that covers the original cobble stone foundation.  

I am considered renovating the bare-bones, concrete-slab, water-intruding basement into a second unit.  

You would need to saw cut the concrete open so that you have about 12" of open width around the crack.

He was a concrete contractor out of painesville and an A rating on Angies list (which is a joke) that did a shifty job and ran off with some of my money without finishing the job.
