I was thinking of putting it in an index fund but that would be more for a 5-10 year timeline. another option would be individual stocks but there is a lot of risk involved in that.Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you.

Nothing quick with this.I think it's a stretch to say moving the pole in the middle of the night will work...and without permitting you'll be looking at penalties...Sounds like you're on the right path..lots of red tape, but hopefully you have a pleasant experience working with everyone involved.
