If they think we are privileged then they should help those countries jump the technology barriers on food, health, education, etc.

I'm intrigued by land flipping for multiple reasons: low $ barrier to entry, overall simplicity (vs dealing with leases and tenants and property management, etc), and ability to do it while working a full time job.

@James Park I think Duluth probably has a stronger rental market due to its proximity to the ring compared to the other 2 cities.

The "Alberta Advantage" includes the following: No property transfer tax, no Provincial Sales Tax for doing reno projects, no rent control, very easy to evict problem tenants, higher rent to purchase price ratio, lower barrier to entry for purchase (depending where you are buying), and I have found typically the cities are much quicker with permitting where I invest.  

The price barrier to entry is lower, and the state is growing quickly.

If you are an investor the same rings true have friends come.Maybe if you tell the caller on the phone you will be over with your investor group to let them in that will deter a criminal who the thought of a lot of people showing up will scare them off.
