The optimist/semi-realist in me says I may have struck gold here.

As far as people like us are concerned, I think we should be okay if either scenario occurs - we own hard assets and people will always need a place to live, and they'll have to pay for it whether it's dollars, gold, or the new world currency.

This website gives me tons of motivation and hope that I can actually make a life changing and career change with REI but I have one huge drawback; so lets theorize and see if BP can help me out here.Lets say, I find the perfect REO dump, and with googly dollar sign eyes it looks like a gold mine.

Bigger Pockets also is a resource if you  pour through the decades of posts there can be gold in there.

Off market deals are gold.

I've listened to each of them more than once --- every time I listen I pick up on another nugget of advice and am further inspired.

I took the course at Gold Coast school of real estate which I now see they have an online class.
