If someone comes to me about using him, I'll typically handle the contracts and payment through my business...but I'll ultimately oversee his efforts and if there are any issues, the other person can come directly to me.Basically, I only get involved in I feel my reputation is on the line or if the work is complicated enough that having me involved will be a benefit.

You don't have depreciation on raw land (which you lose the benefit of in an IRA) or a lot of complicated transactions to keep straight.You would probably be in technical violation if you stayed on the land but not if you just visit.
