The growing popularity of wake surfing would also make me believe a larger body of water would be more attractive to lake enthusiasts.

Run my ethernet into that, and it functions as a smart TV + router + computer which can print, surf the net, etc.

My dream property is a property I own in Costa Rica, which is a 2 bed/1 bath on 13,000 square feet of land within 60 seconds walk to a surfing beach, in a small beach town of 500 people, located 25 minutes drive from a larger beach down.I plan on building a surf shed to house surf boards, a large swimming pool, a bbq area, fruit trees throughout the property, install a streem with a small waterfall and fish, then tear down the existing house a couple years down the road and put in a 5 bed/6 bath house, use it for myself every 90 days, going there with family and friends, the rest of the time rent it out short term rental.

There are two places on Indian Trail (I believe) that are cool spots and good surfing at 16th.

I couldn't quite find an investment worthwhile and rents were/are abhorrent so I figured I'd rent a space near the beach, surf, regroup and recalibrate. 

Though painfully expensive, I want to put my roots down around here, be near my family, and feed my hopeless addiction to surfing; an addiction I wish I didn't have from a real estate perspective but one that's nonetheless here to stay and, unfortunately, a MAJOR factor in where I choose to live. :)My brother has been talking about buying his first house in Santa Cruz, CA, where he currently rents, for quite some time.

@Matt R. is one of those guys that I love reading and for years have told myself and probably him as well that I want to meet up out in Cali for a beer and a surf lesson next time I'm there.  

At least 50 percent of our targets as investors are 60+ years old and they are not surfing the web looking for us.

My wife and I are currently focused around Topsail, Surf City and North Topsail.
