On the side of building a portfolio of investment properties in the future, I'm evaluating getting a job in Real Estate too because I'm passionate about the industry and because it can be a path to learning as much as possible about Real Estate generally while earning money, save, and then invest myself.I think it's Ok to ask for advice here, so here it goes.

Selling your ideas, expertise, passion, etc.

A solid long-term strategy (for apartment investing, everything is long-term :) is to find a local charity you are passionate about and try to get on the board over time.

I've been a licensed real estate agent for over a year now, am a novice house hacker and do insurance by day (which pays the bills but lack the passion for).  

I work in Multi-Unit Retail Management and am passionate about personnel development and process optimization.

@Greg Raymond If real estate is your passion, you are better off spending time with people who will reinforce and encourage you in the right direction.

Also, beginners have a passionate light that attracts people.

I am very interested in investing in real-estate upon graduating as I have learned from several full-time internships that I do not have a passion for working the 9-5 for a large corporation over the next 40 years.
