Unless you're consistently finding product packaging in the refuse you can use to gauge consumer preferences, it might be only a marginal idea.Maybe consider posting a survey in the laundry room asking for the tenants' feedback: "Would you find a laundry detergent vending machine helpful?"

Next MREE event is June 1st and of course I'll be traveling for work and can't make it :|http://1031mree.com/MREE events require membership or a $20 drop in fee, so that is a disadvantage compared to the free TCREI as @Travis Sperr mentioned.

Once you are able to find a site that is already zoned for multi-family- because rezoning to multi-family is very difficult- and tie up the site with an earnest money deposit, you've then got to engage professionals for: surveying, land planning, civil engineering, geotechnical, environmental, architectural, MEP design services.
