My grandparents just purchased a duplex in south Florida to supplement their retirement so I'm really motivated to learn as much as I can to help them with their goals and start towards my own.

Hello BP, I am comparing insurance policies for my most recent rental and the policy that I believe I am going to go with carries $300k in liability coverage. 

My question for this group is what limits or coverage do you require for the bulleted items below?  

Just get good insurance coverage and save the higher tax costs.

Which in NOLA, if it is being financed, means expensive because you have to have both named storm coverage and flood. 

Consult your insurance agent prior to change of ownership and possession because insurance coverage may be limited or terminated.

,I see a few threads on this already, so I apologize for any redundancy, but I am looking for insurance coverage for my rental properties. 

On top of that you can obtain Umbrella policy, which will cover beyond the initial coverage.
