There is individual hook ups for both - so I guess they can source their own (even though it might be a pain in the butt).

I would also make sure there was a heat source and/or some sort of ventilation in the area you described, especially if you aren't moving away from the carpet right away.

Like James said if social security is their only source of income it wouldn't be the best idea.
