I am considering changing careers to become a real estate agent, but I know it is a hard path and takes a lot of time to build up clients and to see the fruit of it.

This is a good change of career to say the least.

I've developed over $100 million in commercial and investment real estate in my career and I've got some unconventional advice you won't hear everyday...if you want to win in an ultra competitive real estate investment market...overpay.  

The best advice and work I've done in my young career is being aggressive with meeting new people, whether brokers, Agents, Buyer's, Seller's, investors, whoever.

The most common things I have heard from others is to not hire the cheapest and make sure they have experience in that field on properties like you own.The bulk of my experience is in the construction business and a little in real estate.  

Understand that I'm not suggesting you get licensed as a prerequisite however the education component, liberation and access to MLS can all be very helpful when jump starting your career.  

I plan to spend another 1-3 years here and would love to take advantage of owner occupant rights to start my real estate investing career. 

Although I recently spent a day cleaning up a year and a half worth of big dog poop mixed with cigarette butts in a backyard, at this point in my career my time is better spent coordinating workers and making the big money decisions.

When not studying for the CPA exam, I play hockey and scour Zillow and build financial models for what I hope to be my first investment property.As my career progresses, I hope to continue to grow towards small business tax planning, consulting and compilation while investing in horizontal income streams.Please reach out to me with any technical excel questions or tax scenarios!
