It may have been easier because we were military at the time, but there are some civilian services as well that may help you if the consulate or embassy are too far.If you have a trusted business partner and can wire the money ahead you may also be able to establish a limited power of attorney for the deal that is restricted to terms you have already agreed on, and only for that deal.

Marc, definitely hadn't considered partnering financially on the first deal and splitting profits (hopefully) with a seasoned pro, great idea to gain some hands-on experience with someone else helping along the way.Joel, would love to hear more about your challenges/successes with your quads in Roswell sometime, thanks for the advice.

If payments are slow or in default the examination can go deeper.Then if it's discovered that you misrepresented things, you could have problems.It's irrelevant if you know of someone who lied on a mortgage/loan application or if you know someone who says they know someone who did, or the amount you put down, or good intentions, knowingly presenting false information or obtaining a loan by deceiving an insured lender is a felony.I suggest you seek other financing options, with your down payment there should be seller financing options available, partner with another, if you have a retirement account you might be able to change accounts and borrow from yourself, seek private investors, do an installment deal like an option to be financed in the future in 3 or 5 years later.

@Rikard Lorén It would really depend on how you would negotiate with your partners, but I would best set it up as a simple loan at a fixed rate of interest.
