In the context of your apartment building search, functional obsolescence may include not having W/D hook-ups (and no laundry building), no central A/C (only window units), no dishwasher, limited kitchen (e.g. 2 cabinets, limited countertop), 3 bedroom 1 bathroom, 7' wide bedrooms, no electric ground, ... in otherwords 'things' you wouldn't ever see in anything built recently.

Every 8 years, replace all faucets, under cabinet water lines,  toilet mechanicals, washer and dryer lines and vent hose just to name a few.

If you need to change the flooring, get a quote for what it would be to replace the flooring, the cabinets etc.

 Assuming the Exterior is completely dried in, the next steps to finish the project would be:Drywall or Wall Finish - a Cabin in Montana might prefer a Wood Finish instead of the Drywall we typically use in Arizona - Possibly a combination of both; I suspect Drywall would be least expensive but maybe not as Aesthetically correct.Assume an inspection is required to confirm proper Nailing of Wallboard prior to next steps - Make sure Wiring and Plumbing passed inspection prior to installing Wallboard.Tape, Texture, and Paint - If Drywall is used, not required for a Wood Wall Finish, but Wood might need to be Stained and Sealed.Flooring - Carpet, Tile, WoodMillwork - Cabinets and CountertopsElectrical Trim - Includes installation of Electrical Outlets, Switches, and Light Fixtures.

By the time I was done, my cost for replacing the tub, installing a new faucet, replacing the bathroom sink and faucet because we had to take the bathroom sink cabinet out to replace the tile floor, to tile, install imitation granite, plaster and paind cost my $5,000.

I usually estimate based on the cost of materials and do the work myself, for example:used or new toilet: $20-$90plain white sink at lowes (order online): $40used or new window: $20-150used or new door: $20-150bathroom mirror: $10-20sheet of drywall: $10bucket of mud: $12sheet of 1/2" plywood: $20laminate or tile flooring: 1-2/sq.ft.5 gal of paint, primer or polyurethane: $50-100used or new cabinets: $0-600laminate countertop: $50-200used fridge and stove: $100-260new water heater: $220If you don't know how to make certain repairs there are lots of youtube videos that you can learn from.

I am about to rehab an entire 2,600 SF 4 bed three bath with two master bedrooms, I would like to incorporate a front load washer and dryer into the kitchen cabinets.
