This is getting to be a long-winded post, but if you don't want to sign the contract that day (I don't feel comfortable even trying this yet), you just want to get as much info as you can (and as many pics as possible, make sure you see everything), and let the seller know you will run the numbers, and if everything checks out you may be able to buy their house.

I would screw with them first by asking for all these requests during your stay  Actually an "in between" strategy is to have a friend or family member rent it from the old man, tell you when they are in the unit, then walk in and have your friend take a pic of you "entering the unit" while they're there.  

Maybe get rid of everything that isn’t essential, kids toys, coats on the racks, vacuum cleaner in the bedroom, stuff on the kitchen counter, slide in the yard, and then retake your pics with the windows open and the new paint.

You can’t scan the QR code but on your end you select (try another way) or something like that to manually enter the codes   

Todays fakes actually pass bar code scans!

@Albert Bui  plus read the fine print HELOC"s can be frozen and called.. unlike fixed 30 year.and not sure how this works..
