I would grant that self managing can be a huge advantage... but OOS investors can't self manage. 

That's all you are doing with your contemplated entity structure as they will be more inclined to want to see what's hidden leading to an even more thorough and invasive discovery process. 

Are you meaning an investment account as in self directed IRA? 

That all being said, if you feel comfortable going ahead with it and and there aren't any superior leads then why not?

Self management is very well, manageable especially once you have the right systems in place.

Lots of risk that you can't control and it is taxed as Ordinary Income plus the IRS will see you as self employed so you will pay all of the Social Security tax and perhaps a 2.5% extra tax if you make over $250k.
