I talked with my lender and she stated that we cannot acquire a loan through an LLC and it would have to go under our individual names.  

What information do you share when looking for a partner and at what stages of talk do you give the information?.....

They will either come across as a professional, and ask logical questions, or they will talk fast and ask silly questions.

It looks like you've already done some research regarding multi families in your new location- keep researching and specifically talk to the agents and find out if the properties you are interested in would pass a VA appraisal (many don't).  

Although I disagree with that reasoning, I think there is some merit to her arguments as I tend to have a lot of free time that I could be taking action rather than  just talking and dreaming about the life I want.

Talk with as many banks as you can to get the best loan terms.
