For these reasons, I'm thinking it may hinder my overall goals, but don't want to completely rule out the possibility if folks out there have found success.As far as why I'm drawn to the career: flexible schedule, weird love for numbers, driving for dollars between jobs, general REI adjacency, daily variety of location, outdoor/indoor, relatively active (on my feet), potential for solid income after certification (especially on the commercial side).

If they will not I would drive for dollars and find a deal and see if someone will partner with you, or if you have some down payment money try calling local banks and see what they can do.

Considering the big chunk of change that is even 3%-5% down for houses at Boston prices, I wonder if it may be worth it to buy in a neighboring town (within a 1hour driving radius) where prices are notably lower, put a more traditional amount down (10-20%), and just rent out fully without house hacking.

@Andrew Bang thank you for that advice but I am wondering like if I see a house while driving for dollars do I ask the seller for all the info on the house or just try give a ball park estimate of the purchase price?
