Does that de-facto point to the actual company owners thus rendering the entire anonymous structure useless?

LLC Fundamentals.The State chosen to create an S-Corp or LLC is typically based upon the tax treatment of the entity - - Delaware & Nevada are the most common.  

As a Canadian - would be great to connect with folks that have facilitated investing cross-border. 

With the current state of the border and the ongoing crime along the border I might think of selling if I could do well on it.

Use the same strategy as Roy stated in terms of transferring across the border with an account that is in the same denomination (we use RBC and all transfers are free) - but for the actual exchange then use xe.They're cheaper with smaller amounts as well but it's not really worth the extra days to process compared to what you save vs a bank.

A couple of friends have mentioned crossing the border into Maryland or Virginia, but I really want the address to be a real DC zip code. 

I'd also be careful though with some of the towns that border it.
