There is a saying in business, "Don't trip over dollar bills trying to pick up pennies".  

I would not try to save a few pennies if having stainless steel helps you sell the house.

It would cost them pennies compares to an owners costs.  

Look for pennies like the rest of us.

@Jesse Kailahi, I'll be a lone voice crying in the wilderness here but I love your start and your wife's career and your commitment to sound financial steps  so I'll chip in some advice (that I follow myself) that's worth every penny you're paying for it...  

Talk to enough homeowners and you'll soon find someone willing to sell at a wholesale price, especially if the owner lives out of state.Driving for Dollars: The last method is to simply drive around and look for homes in disrepair... things like uncut grass, broken down cars in the driveway, or properties that could really use a fresh coat of paint.

The big hook of course is you get a new roof for pennies on the dollar.  

@Penny Clark I think you and I have the same philosophy.  

The models with longer warranty come with better anode rod and more rust resistant tank interior coating, as well as better insulation. 

@Brady Boyer in my opinion (which you asked for) you should not invest in real estate until every penny of your student debt is paid off.
