As you said, one of the best arrangements is the “revenue split” where the landlord pays for all furniture and the manager gets a cut from them for doing all the booking, guest communications, coordinating cleaners and other management stuff.How good can it get?

I know there are some third parties who sell access to the MLS as a service, but normally these types of arrangements are both expensive, and the service itself is not as reliable as the real MLS which is restricted to Brokers/Agents.
