I would trust real estate way more than the stock market. 

Lets face it, the real risk is the principle anyways so protecting that is most important.I also have no early payment penalties and often, the ability for the investor to roll into the next deal allowing their capital to be constantly working for them.All loan docs should include the interest rates, loan terms, and payment schedules.

However we've been hearing a lot about how lucrative Airbnb and 30+ day rentals are, even to businesses/government agencies/etc. so are looking to connect with someone in that space. 

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

Make sure you consult an accountant that understands current real estate tax law to evaluate the consequences of both scenarios.Everything else Jaron said is 100% accurate and this decision depends on what kind of investor you want to be.
