Her brokerage listed the property, and she is taking me out there to do a walk through to determine if I want to take the next step. 

That's on top of the sales comps, rent comps, and deal analysis it already does. 

My thinking is that if I remove them completely it might bring back a little more curb appeal to the property and make it more inviting to potential renters. 

How can I make sure to do this the right way? 

I've also seen that rents in Puerto Rico provided by the government are substantially less then the states.
