I filed an unlawful detainer against her (we are in the state of Virginia).

Unless there is specific written documentation that the tenant knew that the partial payment does not waive the landlord's rights to evict, then the unlawful detainer case may be dismissed.

And the only logical reason I can come up with for continuing at this rate would be that I deserve to be punished for getting myself into this situation in the first place.

You don’t want to knowingly accept an illegal alien on the lease . you could be held liable for that and punished .

I think that's punishing the other 3 tenants that get along, and removing value should I be showing one of those units.
