Taking a different path can potentially yield more fruit. 

How do you know when you are on the right path?

You're likely not going to convince anyone to quit or take on a new career path of your choice.

My plan is for this to be my first investment that will set me on a path to many more great real estate investments.

Although its my opinion there is money to be made understanding the US as a whole and trying to position one's self in the path of progress.

If that's you, then recording the data line by line, or paying someone to do that for you is your other option.Income and expenses are fairly straightforward for the most part.  

I feel confident that with my work ethic and will to succeed that REI is a great path, but the amount of information to cover is overwhelming!

hahaI hope whatever path you choose in real estate,  you give it your best shot and don't give up!  

I think your end goal is important to know before comments create an optimal path.

I've read several of the blog's with regard to "house hacking" including @Scott Trench's experience with his first property as well as @Darren Sager's podcast on his duplex ventures, and I've decided this is the path I'm going to take.
