It doesn't matter what seems high or not, each property on Hubzu is differently and they have been requested more in deposits and in a credit card hold to bid to prevent fraud.Hubzu is fine, but the bidding is like eBay.

I think rent to own is much better since you will get a bigger down payment (not just a security deposit but more like 3-6% non refundable deposit) and typically a higher monthly rental payment since people that you’re looking for want to be homeowners and not just tenants.
