Besides going with something like a heat pump you should upgrade your windows, recaulk everything and spray foam insulate the walls and ceiling to attic..

There was some issue with the new central A/C and when we were there checking on things the tenant said- "strange thing, when I got home from work the other day there was a small pool of water a couple feet from the kitchen island.Strange we though, could it have been condensation from a ceiling vent?
