Use the same strategy as Roy stated in terms of transferring across the border with an account that is in the same denomination (we use RBC and all transfers are free) - but for the actual exchange then use xe.They're cheaper with smaller amounts as well but it's not really worth the extra days to process compared to what you save vs a bank.
