It looks like they're more efficient, and with mini splits, you can also be adding air conditioning at the same time.I found a local electrician who is going to inspect the radiant heat system for me and he can advise me on how urgent it is that I upgrade.

This is a pretty scary and new proposition for me and or family so I am looking for advise, books and blogs to read that can offer advise on moving forward and using rental property and future properties as a long term investment strategy.

hi keenen and welcome, as far as the 5 rentals I wouldn't concern yourself just yet, unless you have deep pockets and are planning on purchasing all 5 right away, a good mortgage broker and advise from here will guide you down the right path, by purchasing with companies, partnerships, etc. 

Many people have advised me against doing it, but I plan to do it again as soon as the loan is paid off.
