Not every bank does 80% so verify that, and then pursue the ones that do until you get a pre-approval.

Have you reached out to several lenders to verify that in your area?

I also require them to state why they will be late and often ask for some evidence (layoff letter, employer number to verify hours were cut, etc).

@Veronica Joubert Hi Veronica as a lender we require proof of assets (recent bank statement) and we verify credit and experience.

But show us the numbers as to how you got there so we can verify!
