A self-directed 401k is no different from an IRA account at a brokerage in this respect - you just have the flexibility to diversify your retirement savings into a different type of asset beyond the confines of Wall St.So yes, your CPA is absolutely right, and yes, there are all kinds of folks here on BP and otherwise that are putting their 401k into real estate - it just has to be done the right way.I like to phrase it this way:  "It is not you investing in real estate and having access to your retirement funds to do so.  

From the NC Bar: "The phrase “practice law” as used in this Chapter is defined to be performing any legal service for any other person, firm or corporation, with or without compensation, specifically including ... assisting by advice, counsel, or otherwise in any legal work; and to advise or give opinion upon the legal rights of any person, firm or corporation..."

The heading at the top states "THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS OF THE OWNER ARE BASED ON OWNER'S ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE"  and all questions are phrased as "Do  you know of...".I would think all questions would need to be answered.  

We joke on how we will f-with you, that the second you start talking about all the "big" stuff your gonna do, we sniff you out in a second, so we will joke how we tripple prices and then "let" you chizzle us down to double, lol. 

Let me phrase it differently...Hang in there. 

I have a running joke with a VP I know at a big bank, they won't give me a residential loan, but they buy my loans from the secondary market- he shrugs and says, they are bound by so many rules/computer programs, they aren't actually allowed to think/make decisions

My co-workers used to love when I'd come to work after knife defense sessions with black ink all over me -- they'd joke about how "dead" I was.

I love the joke that you can make 100,000s by working a few hours a week.

Steve Babiak - Gotcha, hard to tell from just reading text, I thought you were just joking.

The MI claims are a joke and are usually only for 25% of the total loss amount or less (I used to file these with the MI companies).
