My parents would set dishes of vinegar and clumps of charcoal around the house after they left, and it didn't take long to soak up the smoke. 

No matter how good of tenants, you're going to be sharing your kitchenware, potentially having people leave dirty dishes in the kitchen, in their rooms, etc. 5 tenants is A LOT - how many bathrooms will they have to share between the 5 of them?

Asking your tenants about the property management performance occasionally is also a good idea.

Last time we sprayed it was 7 years ago - roaches still walk in occasionally (it is Florida after all) and are dead in 15 paces.You can also buy roach bait.

That being said, the additional guest will definitely put pressure on your house in the form of; more showers, more dishes, more maintenance items, more general wear and tear.

And occasionally a backup occurs in between those routine snakes.

Occasionally you can find a deal inside a condo complex, but I rarely do.  

While you are correct that you have to deal with the occasional crack head, I’ve made more money in San Bernardino than any other city and not just on a percentage basis.

So, by occasionally staging for others, it essentially pays for the furniture.

I occasionally do this with rentals but we are talking about prior to a coat of paint and rug cleaning.
