There were many other new investors there and they were making announcement for beginners to sign up for 2 day beginner classes and other paid events coming up in the next few months.  

So we've been thinking, whats another good way to insure he has some type of financial bonus if/when he decides to get out in 4 years, and this is what we came up with.We've been talking to him about buying a rental.

I find manufacturers use less coupons these days so I have the wife sign up with a junk account to get direct coupons.People haven't seen anything for inflation yet.

As long as the USA chugs along with its recovery, and we benefit from unexpected bonuses like the gulf states willing to kill oil prices, we should be good here in the Bay Area for the next 2-3 years.  

As an added bonus if the property has been a rental for a while you can then 1031 the proceeds into a new investment.  

If not just try to get the ground as a bonus, just my .02
