I work in a sometimes dangerous service job and I do my best to be careful and stay safe, however I would never sign away my workers comp and disability rights just in case something ever did happen, I guess I look at this the same way

I’m not saying it was all bliss, it’s been give and take with the PM, there were times I needed to set back and let them do their job and there has been times that I needed to intervene.

My trucking job “owner operator” pays me well enough to payoff the loan at the 3 year mark.

Job change, family change, etc happen, so don' t think the 1 year is a hard rule like in your case. 

It's not an easy task if the family is large but focus on descendants for now (rather than siblings or ancestors of the decedent).
