Scenario:  I have 3 properties managed by on property manager. 

Knowing how to manage money well is super important for real estate investors.

For example, we have a client who is in a market where they rent the basement out on a short term basement and self manage.

We're big design enthusiasts, and we're excited to leverage these skills along with our interpersonal and management abilities to build our portfolio.Our passion for design had us initially gunning for short-term rentals, but the strict Canadian by-laws make us hesitant.

He managed the cabin himself for several years as a STR.

Most of this was done by our property manager (Neighborhood Property Management), but they have a good website (Housing Choice Vouchers), including a specific section for interested landlords. 

Also, it is key that you do not manage or work yourself on that property or you could cause the IRA to blow up.

We are an all in one team… Licensed agents, manage hundreds of doors, in-house maintenance (on payroll) single family and small multi family properties.  

I plan to self manage, but it's good knowing a middle tier management option between self managed and full property management - without a huge PITA factor :)
