My thought is that if the 50k gain is immediately reinvested into rental stock, the actual net income is zero, but I’m almost sure I’m oversimplifying things.Assuming the answer is "no you cannot", is there any way to do flips to fund rentals that minimize current tax obligations (dumping 100% of proceeds into solo 401k, and then taking loans from 401k to fund the rental downpayment/repairs)?

I haven't bought a deal for a while but I have accumulated more funds - I'm planning on moving out of SoCal and FHAing a 4-unit wherever I end up, plus I have the money to buy another property in my East Coast market if I see something I like (I'll be back there next month visiting family, arguing down property taxes for my newest property at a hearing, working on my properties).Hopefully these ideas are inspiring.
