Well I guess you could look at this with another analogy.I am a third degree black belt fixing to test for fourth soon.I love helping all the students below me and even higher ranks learn from me and I also learn from the higher ranks and lower ranks that have taken other styles before.I could say "I will not share anything with this person that is a white belt because one day they will be better than me".I choose not to do that. You can't live in fear of what others are doing or YOU THINK they will do in the future. It really isn't about that at least to me.Now do you spend hours of productive time teaching them everything for free??

I am a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo and testing soon for my 4th degree.I also train in Krav Maga.I also do cardio and weights at the YMCA.I usually work out 5 days a week and take off 2 days. Some days I do doubles with the YMCA and the karate class about 2 1/2 hours total. What I like is with my training there is always something new and the class goes by fast training with others.I used to run 10 miles at the gravel park. Not fast about an 8 minute pace per mile. Here in Georgia the weather can be a beast.
