Sure, if you want to do things favorably for the US Treasury at your expense, but if you can get your hands on itemized receipts from your GM, some of the recovery of these costs might be accelerated (on carpet, appliances, etc).

For invoicing I would recommend using the AIA Form G-702/G-703 if it is a big project, and require release of liens be signed (partial for progress payments, final for final).
