This was not only not good for the grass but the water bill was insane.If you can avoid paying a tenants water, save yourself the trouble and make sure they get the bill.As to the OP, I think while not necessarily illegal it would be unethical and the tenants may (will) feel slighted if they figure out what's going on.

All of the large third party sites (zillow, realtor.com, trulia, etc) are fed from MLS and the data is usually outdated by the time is gets there.

If you snaked a line, with the correct size head, the snake is typically fed from an upstream access point, like a toilet and progress downstream along the line, and the operator does it by feel, they won't see what they cleared but can tell if its a soft blockage or something else.You had it jetted.

In your case though where the apartment is empty, no notice is required assuming your tenant has terminated tenancy officially.You can mow grass whenever you feel like it.
