The ceiling had maggots and smelled nasty due to the upstairs dogs pissing into our ceiling causing the intermittent leaking (no pipes in the area, and its dark yellow liquid that smells bad).I have called our insurance who have said that since maggots were growing, its been like that a while and they cannot do anything and to contact upstairs neighbors insurance.

Hopefully a frozen pipe wont have caused too much water damage, your insurance carrier could look at a frozen pipe and deem it as neglect or lack of maintenance as water lines shouldn't freeze if properly  taken care of and thus not pay anything as far as remediation goes

And be aware there are RMD (Required Minimum Distributions) to cause your income to go up.As to 401Ks and the like.
